- Claims to Employment Tribunals from employees and general employment advice.
- Contracts and contract disputes.
- Land and property matters.
- Child protection issues.
- Special needs.
- Disputes with parents/ unacceptable behaviour.
- Civil litigation – uninsured risks.
- Education law.
Schools can request advice on various topics as often as required within the generous limits of the service.
Legal Services are easily accessible through email, telephone or letter.
Benefits of the service
The lawyers dealing with the schools are highly experienced specialists who have many years of post qualification experience in the areas that matter most to schools. Not all firms in private practice will have that experience, and where they do, schools will find that they have to access specialist solicitors at a premium.
If the in-house team cannot provide the advice because it is a particular large or complex piece of work, external firms can be utilised at discounted rates through an arrangement with the North West Consortium – a framework agreement with private firms and Barristers.
All organisations potentially face costly and time consuming legal challenges in these increasingly litigious times. Our offer provides the comfort of knowing that your school will have legal protection cover at a fixed or discounted price suited to the schools budget.
Legal Services comply with the Law Society Standards practice management standards and the Legal Services Office Manual can be found on the Council’s intranet for schools to access where required.
Upon receiving instructions on any matter the case will be assessed as to the degree of risk that it carries and will be allocated to the appropriate grade of fee earner accordingly.
Fees are charged as a discounted annual premium at a very attractive rate which should cover all of the school’s needs, or, alternatively schools can request legal services at agreed hourly rates.
